Shiatsu Massage in Dubai

At your home, hotel or villa — anywhere in Dubai

Finger pressure, no oil — Japan’s classic

Shiatsu means finger pressure, and that is exactly what the hour is: steady, held pressure with thumbs, palms and elbows along the body’s traditional meridian lines, with a little stretching folded in. No oil, no undressing, no lying passively while someone strokes your back. Our Japanese therapists deliver it the way it is done at home — on a firm mat, in your own living room, hotel room or villa, anywhere in Dubai, 24/7, flat AED 300 for 60 minutes with travel included.

Pressure that is held, not rubbed

Most massage moves along the body. Shiatsu stops. The therapist finds a point, leans body weight into it, holds for a few unhurried breaths, releases, and moves to the next — a rhythm closer to acupressure than to any oiled technique. It is the reason guests describe the effect as landing deeper than the pressure alone would explain, and the reason a session leaves you settled rather than sleepy.

Thumbs and palms

The core tool. Broad palm pressure to warm and open an area, then precise thumb work into the specific points along it — steady, perpendicular, and timed to your breathing.

Elbows and knees

Used where more weight is needed — the large muscles of the back, hips and thighs. This is where shiatsu gets genuinely firm, and where guests who thought “no oil, no pressure” change their mind.

Stretch and rotation

Gentle joint rotations and light stretches punctuate the pressure work — shoulders, hips, ankles. Less dramatic than Thai, but the same idea of moving you rather than only touching you.

Shiatsu or Thai? The honest comparison

These are our two dressed, oil-free, mat-based treatments and guests mix them up constantly. Here is the difference in one line each: Thai stretches you; shiatsu presses you.

Choose shiatsu if…

…you want steady, held pressure on the places that ache, you like the idea of acupressure, or big stretches make you nervous. Calmer, more static, more precise.

Choose Thai if…

…you feel stiff and folded shut and want to be opened up. Bigger movements, assisted stretches, and a distinctly more athletic hour.

Choose deep tissue if…

…one specific knot needs interrogating and you do not mind oil. Shiatsu treats points; deep tissue treats a problem area.

The lowest-friction hour we offer

No undressing, no oil on your skin or your sheets, nothing to shower off, and nowhere to be afterwards. Shiatsu is the treatment guests book on an ordinary Tuesday without rearranging their evening around it — and at AED 300 flat with travel included, the same figure as everything else on our card.

Shiatsu massage in Dubai — your questions

What is shiatsu massage?

A Japanese technique whose name literally means “finger pressure”. The therapist works with thumbs, palms, elbows and knees, applying steady held pressure to specific points along the body’s traditional meridian lines, with some gentle stretching and joint rotation. No oil, no undressing — you stay in loose clothing throughout.

How is shiatsu different from Thai massage?

They look similar from across the room and feel completely different. Thai is built around large assisted stretches — the therapist folds and lengthens you. Shiatsu is built around static pressure — the therapist finds a point, leans in, holds, releases, moves on. Thai leaves you feeling stretched; shiatsu leaves you feeling settled.

Does it hurt?

The pressure is firm and held rather than sharp, and tender points are common — that is normal and usually the part guests remember. It should never be painful. Say “lighter” at any moment and the therapist adjusts on that point, not the next one.

Do I stay dressed?

Yes, in loose comfortable clothing — the kind you would stretch in. Shiatsu uses no oil at all, which makes it the easiest treatment on our card to fit into an ordinary evening, and the one to choose if you dislike oil on your skin.

Table or floor mat?

Traditionally a firm floor mat, which lets the therapist use body weight properly, and that is how we deliver it — the mat comes with them. Two to three metres of clear floor is all we need. Table-based shiatsu is possible on request but the mat is the authentic version.

What does it cost in Dubai?

AED 300 for 60 minutes, AED 520 for 90 and AED 600 for 120 — VAT and travel included, identical in every area of Dubai. No premium for the technique and no distance surcharge.

Who is it best for?

Desk workers with a locked neck and shoulders, people who find oil massage too passive, anyone who dislikes undressing for a treatment, and guests who want something calming but not sleepy. It suits people who like the idea of acupressure but would rather not have needles anywhere near them.

Who should avoid it?

Anyone with a fever or infection, fresh injuries or fractures, recent surgery, significant osteoporosis, or clotting and heart conditions without a doctor’s clearance. Pregnancy: book the prenatal session instead, which is built around a bump from the ground up.
