A Moroccan bath is not a massage, and people who book it expecting one are always surprised. It is a cleansing ritual: warm water, Moroccan black soap left to soften the skin, a firm kessa-glove scrub that takes off everything the shower never did, a ghassoul clay mask, a rinse, and argan oil to finish. Your own bathroom is all we need — the soap, glove, clay and oil arrive with the therapist. Anywhere in Dubai, 24/7, flat AED 300 for 60 minutes with travel included.
The five steps, in order
1 · Warm water
The skin is warmed and softened first, in your own shower. Everything that follows depends on this step, and it is the one rushed versions cut short.
2 · Beldi black soap
Traditional Moroccan olive-based black soap is applied across the body and left to work for several minutes. It is not lathered and rinsed like ordinary soap — the waiting is the point.
3 · The kessa scrub
The signature step: a firm scrub with the traditional kessa glove that lifts away dead skin in visible rolls. Unfamiliar the first time, oddly satisfying by the second, and the reason the results are nothing like a home body scrub.
4 · Ghassoul clay
Mineral clay from the Atlas Mountains, applied as a full-body mask and left to draw and settle before rinsing. This is the step that leaves skin calm rather than raw after the scrub.
5 · Argan oil finish
Rinse, dry, and pure argan oil worked into skin that has just been stripped back to new. This is when guests understand what they paid for.
Then, optionally, the massage
Book 90 minutes and the ritual is followed by a proper oiled massage on skin that has never been more ready for it. Most guests who try the combination stop booking it any other way.
What we need from your bathroom
Practically nothing, which surprises people. A working shower and hot water is the requirement — a standard Dubai apartment bathroom, a villa bathroom or a hotel bathroom all work without adaptation. The therapist brings the black soap, the kessa glove, the ghassoul clay and the argan oil, and leaves the bathroom as they found it. There is no plumbing to alter, nothing to install, and nothing for you to buy in advance.
Before the day
Do not wax, shave closely or have laser treatment in the 48 hours before — freshly treated skin and a kessa glove are a bad combination. Arriving with skin that has not been scrubbed for a few weeks gives the most dramatic result.
On the day
Nothing to prepare. Drink water, keep the hour free, and let the therapist manage the sequence — the timings between steps are where the skill sits.
Afterwards
Skin will be sensitive for a day: skip strong exfoliants, hot sun and heavy perfume. Moisturise, and expect the smoothness to last a good week or more.

What exactly is a Moroccan bath?
A traditional North African cleansing ritual, not a massage. Warm water opens the skin, Moroccan black soap (beldi) is applied and left to work, then the therapist scrubs the whole body with a kessa glove — the step that removes dead skin in visible grey rolls. A ghassoul clay mask follows, then a rinse and argan oil. You leave it feeling smoother than any scrub at home has ever managed.
Can it really be done at my home?
Yes — your own bathroom becomes the hammam. All the therapist needs is a bathroom with a working shower and hot water; everything else, including the black soap, kessa glove, clay and oil, arrives with them. Villas, apartments and hotel bathrooms all work.
Is it painful? I have heard the scrub is rough.
It is firm and unfamiliar rather than painful — most first-timers laugh at how much comes off. The pressure of the glove is adjustable exactly like massage pressure: say lighter and it changes. If your skin is sensitive, tell us at booking and the therapist scrubs accordingly.
Will I have a female therapist?
For female guests we send a female therapist as standard, and for male guests a male therapist, unless you ask otherwise. This is a treatment where the professional norm in Dubai is same-gender service and we follow it without needing to be asked.
How long does it take?
Around 60 minutes for the full ritual, and it is worth not rushing it — the black soap needs time on the skin before the scrub, which is the step most rushed salon versions skip. Ninety minutes lets us finish with a proper massage afterwards, which is how most guests book it once they have tried it.
How much does a Moroccan bath cost in Dubai?
AED 300 for 60 minutes, AED 520 for 90 and AED 600 for 120 — VAT and travel included, the same flat card as everything else we bring. Salons in Dubai commonly charge AED 299 to 420 for the treatment, before you factor in getting there and back.
How often should I have one?
Once or twice a month suits most people. More often than that and you are scrubbing skin that has not had time to renew — which is the opposite of what the treatment is for. If your skin feels tight or irritated afterwards, stretch the gap.
Who should not book it?
Anyone with eczema, psoriasis, open cuts, fresh sunburn, a recent wax or laser treatment, or any active skin condition — the exfoliation is genuinely vigorous and will make those worse. Pregnant guests should book the prenatal massage instead. If in doubt about your skin, ask your doctor first.
